Unbelievable (2019)

The US miniseries, based on reported events, connects a young woman's treatment after reporting rape with two detectives' painstaking work elsewhere. Credibility becomes something institutions can damage as well as assess. Kaitlyn Dever's performance gives the consequences of disbelief a continuing human presence. Sexual violence and the experience of being questioned are intensely distressing; patience with evidence is the investigative pleasure.
