Roma (2018)

Alfonso Cuarón builds a household's life from sounds, routines and spaces that extend beyond the main action. Yalitza Aparicio's restrained performance gives the domestic worker at its centre a presence the family too often takes for granted. The sweeping black-and-white images are most powerful when they make private and public history share one frame.
