86 minutes. Greta Gerwig's aspiring dancer keeps moving even when work, money and friendship refuse to keep pace. Quick changes of address give the film momentum without making Frances's uncertainty seem easily solved. The black-and-white city and bursts of physical comedy make it an inviting choice when you want a character study with a spring in its step.
