Beth Grant

Grant's Kitty Farmer in Donnie Darko (2001) turns moral certainty into suburban pressure. As the pageant official in Little Miss Sunshine (2006), she again gives a comic institution a fiercely committed human face. Watch how seriously she takes the rules: the humour comes from conviction, not from signalling that the character is ridiculous.
