Detectorists (2014)

Two English metal-detector enthusiasts fill their Suffolk days with patient searching and exquisitely unimportant arguments. Facial reactions, friendship and the gulf between a treasured dream and a muddy find carry the humour. This is a good subtler choice when frantic subtitles and rapid-fire insults would feel like work.
