Crossing Delancey (1988)

Amy Irving's independent bookstore manager has to reconsider what she finds impressive when a novelist and a pickle seller offer very different possibilities. Joan Micklin Silver gives family matchmaking affection without making the heroine's resistance foolish. A restored and celebrated film, it is a rewarding discovery beyond the usual New York romcom shorthand.
