Saving Face (2004)

Alice Wu connects a young Chinese-American doctor's hesitant romance with her mother's equally inconvenient private life. Michelle Krusiec, Lynn Chen and Joan Chen make the family complications funny without diminishing their emotional costs. The film offers a lively alternative to coming-out stories driven solely by rejection, while taking generational pressure seriously.
