But I'm a Cheerleader (2000)

Jamie Babbit turns a conversion camp into a deliberately artificial world of pink, blue and absurdly rigid gender rules. Natasha Lyonne and Clea DuVall supply a sincere romantic centre inside the satire. Already a queer cult favourite, it is a useful discovery for newcomers who want affectionate teen courtship with pointed jokes about compulsory conformity.
