Downfall (2004)

Oliver Hirschbiegel concentrates the end of the Nazi regime inside a bunker whose routines persist beyond any rational hope of victory. Bruno Ganz gives the central performance frightening physical detail. The film is valuable as historical drama, with attention to how its restricted viewpoint shapes the account.
