David Packard

Packard became HP's president in 1947, then chairman and chief executive in 1964, while Bill Hewlett took the presidency. Their partnership dated to 1939 and continued through changing responsibilities. Packard's return as chairman after government service is a reminder that a durable collaboration can accommodate periods when one founder works elsewhere.
