Black Swan (2010)

Natalie Portman's dancer experiences artistic ambition as a battle with her own body. Darren Aronofsky turns mirrors, rehearsal rooms and physical detail into an increasingly lurid psychological horror film. The excess is deliberate, making this a bracing companion to the year's quieter accounts of work.
