Incendies (2010)

Denis Villeneuve follows twins uncovering their mother's past through a drama that joins family history to the violence of civil conflict. Lubna Azabal gives the earlier story its formidable centre. The revelations are devastating and the material severe, but the film's moral urgency extends beyond its puzzle.
