Rajinikanth

For a direct route into Rajinikanth's Tamil star presence, start with Baashha (1995). An apparently mild auto-rickshaw driver has a past that changes the scale of the film around him. The pleasure is in the contrast between restraint and grand revelation: a useful introduction to action cinema that treats a star's entrance as an event.
