Anushka Shetty

Arundhati (2009, Telugu) gives Shetty the centre of a supernatural revenge story spanning a present-day woman and her formidable ancestor. Her command of posture and expression helps connect the two eras. This is a useful heroine-led route into lavish genre cinema, with horror, cruelty and heightened emotion very much part of the experience.
