Hard Boiled (1992)

Chow Yun-fat and Tony Leung turn a gun-smuggling investigation into John Woo's most extravagant display of spatial invention. Sliding bodies, shifting loyalties and a hospital under siege keep changing the shape of the action. This is the 1992 Hong Kong film, a maximalist pick for viewers who enjoy balletic gunplay.
