Stalker (1979)

Andrei Tarkovsky follows three men through a landscape whose ordinary surfaces seem to conceal a different order of possibility. The long takes make waiting, movement and attention part of the experience. Its science fiction works through uncertainty about desire and belief, rewarding viewers comfortable with a journey that refuses conventional action pay-offs.
