Dead Man's Letters (1986)

Konstantin Lopushansky turns the aftermath of nuclear catastrophe into a suffocating world of damaged interiors and exhausted people. A professor's letters to his missing son give the devastation a small, persistent human address. This Soviet discovery is valuable for its refusal of adventurous survival fantasy; the bleakness and suffering of children make it a severe watch.
