The Wild Bunch (1969)

Sam Peckinpah follows ageing outlaws whose professional code cannot protect them from a world organised around exploitation. The ensemble makes loyalty feel both valuable and compromised. Its graphic editing of violence is central to the experience, giving the film a disturbing tension between the attraction of action and the devastation it produces.
