A motivational speaker hears nearly everybody as interchangeable, and the puppet animation makes his alienation uncomfortably literal. An adult reading may focus less on whether he finds connection than on how he treats other people while wanting it. The carefully observed hotel routines are both funny and suffocating. Explicit sex, nudity and an unsparing view of self-absorption make this a deliberately adult choice.
