WALL·E (2008)

The lonely rubbish collector's care for discarded objects makes the ruined Earth feel inhabited before the humans appear. As an adult, the contrast between useful labour and effortless consumption is harder to leave in the background. WALL·E's hesitant courtship keeps the film affectionate rather than merely accusatory. Its environmental fable works because touch, curiosity and cooperation feel worth recovering.
