Tilda Swinton's abandoned lover waits beside packed suitcases and then tries to make a conversation give shape to an ending she cannot control. Almodóvar lets colour, clothing and the visibly constructed apartment express what the unheard partner cannot. This 30-minute short is a useful counterpoint to the rescue thrillers: a phone can make emotional dependence feel as restrictive as a locked room.
