Omar Sharif

Start before Hollywood with Struggle in the Valley (1954), also known as Blazing Sun. Sharif plays an agricultural engineer returning to a village caught in conflicts over land, class and power, opposite Faten Hamama. The film restores the Egyptian context that international profiles often compress: his romantic appeal and screen career were already taking shape in locally rooted stories before Lawrence of Arabia.
