Lawrence of Arabia (1962)

A desert crossing becomes an extraordinary study of ambition, performance and imperial power. David Lean lets the immense spaces complicate the hero's self-image instead of merely decorating it. Give the restored roadshow version a proper afternoon and the largest screen available; its colonial perspective and casting remain part of any honest recommendation.
