The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938)

Errol Flynn's easy authority and the vivid colour make rebellion feel like an invitation. Forest ambushes and the climactic duel stay connected to the pleasure of an ensemble finding common purpose. Choose the 1938 Michael Curtiz and William Keighley film for buoyant swashbuckling, rather than a gritty reconstruction of medieval England.
