The Princess Bride (1987)

A storybook rescue gains its charm from a narrator who knows both why adventure clichés work and when to tease them. Swordplay, comic timing and sincere romance keep helping each other. A welcoming choice for a mixed group, with enough verbal wit for adults and a few torture and peril scenes beneath the playful surface.
