The Heroic Trio (1993)

Anita Mui, Michelle Yeoh and Maggie Cheung give three competing protectors strikingly different physical and comic rhythms. Johnnie To makes their changing alliance an energetic collision of superheroics and Hong Kong action fantasy. This 1993 film is a discovery for newcomers to that cinema, with endangered children and grotesque violence complicating the colourful premise.
