The Shadow (1994)

Alec Baldwin's mysterious crime-fighter inhabits an extravagantly designed 1930s New York. Russell Mulcahy gives the pulp material colour, scale and a knowingly theatrical villain. Its uneven plotting is part of the trade-off: this is a case for enjoying an overlooked visual world rather than claiming an unjustly perfect story.
