Spirited Away (2001)

Transformation scenes and threatening spirits can be intense for younger children, so this is a richer next step than an automatic first animation. Chihiro's work in the bathhouse makes courage look like attention, persistence and remembering people properly. The hand-drawn world is endlessly rewarding to look at together.
