Kensuke's Kingdom (2024)

Michael Morpurgo's castaway story becomes a hand-drawn adventure whose attention to animals and island life is a strong alternative to busier studio spectacles. The film's smaller profile should not obscure its visual care. Near-drowning, wartime memories and harm to animals make this one to choose with children ready for a more upsetting journey.
