The Secret of Roan Inish (1994)

John Sayles lets Irish selkie folklore grow through a child's listening, family history and the physical texture of a fishing community. It is a rewarding live-action companion to the better-known animated Song of the Sea. The slow rhythm, bereavement and story of a missing child favour a family ready to watch patiently together.
