Sônia Braga

Aquarius (Brazil, 2016) gives Braga a commanding late-career role as Clara, a former music critic resisting developers who want her apartment. Her pleasure in music, family, sex and the physical space of her home makes that resistance personal. It is a rich introduction to an actress whose presence can hold a leisurely character study together while a struggle over property grows increasingly ugly.
