Person
Born
Montenegro's Dora in Central Station (Brazil, 1998) begins as a cynical letter writer working in a railway station. A journey with a boy searching for his father gradually exposes the tenderness beneath that hardness. Her performance gives the road story its difficult emotional movement: affection has to be earned, and the film never depends solely on the charm of its child character.
