April and the Extraordinary World (2015)

A young scientist's search crosses an alternative Paris where technology has taken a strange path. The French animation makes ideas and machines part of the adventure's pleasure, with elaborate designs that reward an attentive viewer. Invention and political satire drive a busy mystery, and its threats can be darker than the storybook artwork first suggests.
