The Lost City of Z (2017)

James Gray makes exploration a consuming idea rather than a succession of picturesque achievements. The journeys into the Amazon keep pulling against a family's life at home, giving the search a serious cost. First shown in 2016 before wider release in 2017, it is a patient, unresolved adventure for viewers drawn to obsession.
