Its most enjoyable scenes treat a giant shark as a clear spatial problem: where can the swimmers go, and what can the crew plausibly see? Jason Statham's dry competence helps the ridiculous scale remain light. The tonal mixture is uneven and the menace is softer than the premise suggests, but it can work as a deliberately undemanding creature outing.
