Makéna Diop

In Dreams of Dust, Diop plays Mocktar, a Nigerien man seeking work at a gold mine in Burkina Faso while carrying a painful past. The Senegalese actor gives the quiet role a presence suited to the landscape and the rhythm of manual labour. Choose it when you want a patient character study rather than a fast plot. His wider career as an actor and storyteller also leads towards Senegalese films such as Toubab Bi and TGV.
