The Tale of The Princess Kaguya (2013)

Isao Takahata's moving brushwork makes emotion seem to alter the drawing itself. A folktale about a mysteriously found child becomes a devastating account of freedom constrained by social expectation. Choose it for an animation style that could not be exchanged for live action; its long, reflective movement and sadness ask for patient attention.
