Son of the White Mare (1981)

Marcell Jankovics makes a Hungarian folktale seem to flow through constantly changing shapes and fierce bands of colour. The visual rhythm is the discovery, far beyond merely illustrating a hero's quest. A rewarding step into experimental feature animation, with sexual imagery, nudity and flashing patterns that make it a different proposition from a family fairy tale.
