Michelle Yeoh

The Malaysian-born star's career makes a useful bridge between film industries. Pair Police Story III: Supercop (1992), from her Hong Kong action years, with Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022), where an exhausted mother becomes a multiverse traveller. The physical precision connects the two, but the later film also gives her room for frustration, absurd comedy and tenderness. Watch how clearly she communicates a character's changing emotional state amid the spectacle.
