Nicholas Hoult's composure becomes the suspense mechanism: ordinary expressions have to conceal a private reason to fear the evidence. Toni Collette gives the prosecutor ambition and doubt without reducing her to an obstacle. Clint Eastwood's restrained setup lets both performances work through small changes of certainty. Try it for moral pressure inside familiar courtroom mechanics, rather than procedural plausibility in every turn.
