Delroy Lindo missed the 2021 Actor in a Leading Role field, whose winner was Anthony Hopkins for The Father. As Paul in Da 5 Bloods, he lets grievance, fear and an urgent demand for loyalty compete within a single address. Direct looks into the camera make the viewer another person he needs to persuade. The scale is larger than Hopkins's enclosed confusion, which is precisely why comparing them can become a useful argument about what screen acting can do.
