Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964)
Movie
Released
Military procedure becomes terrifyingly funny when nobody can stop obeying its logic. Kubrick and his ensemble keep the performances controlled enough for the absurdity to emerge from apparently serious decisions. A compact, blackly comic choice whose subject is nuclear catastrophe, with a bleakness that never turns into reassuring satire.
