Michael Parkinson

Billy Connolly's early Parkinson appearances are a good place to appreciate the host as an attentive audience. He gives a storyteller room, then finds a short question that opens another door. That mixture of preparation and pleasure is more useful to this list than the notorious confrontations. His record also includes dated, sexist questioning, notably of Helen Mirren; choose the conversations where curiosity wins over assumptions.
