Amol Rajan

Rajan took over University Challenge in 2023, bringing evident enthusiasm for its student contestants to a demanding quick-fire format. His job is partly to preserve momentum through long questions and partly to recognise the achievement when someone finds a remarkable answer. The questions remain difficult; the attraction is a host who can sound pleased by the knowledge on display. It is a strong choice for viewers who prefer encouragement alongside intellectual pressure.
