Hairspray (2007)
Movie
Released
Dance television gives Tracy both a dream and a reason to question who gets invited into the picture. The buoyant numbers connect her appetite for the spotlight to a wider fight over segregation, though the history is simplified into an exuberant fable. A useful choice if generous ensemble energy wins you over.
