Michelle Bachelet
Person
Born
Between her two Chilean presidencies, Bachelet became UN Women's first executive director, serving from 2010 to 2013. The new body brought together four existing UN entities and adopted its first strategic plan in 2011. Helping establish that organisation was substantial public work after a presidency, even though she later returned to elected office. Leaving office need not mean permanent retirement.
