Manmohan Singh

Singh taught economics at Panjab University and the Delhi School of Economics before moving into economic administration. His later posts included Reserve Bank governor, followed by appointment as finance minister in 1991 and parliamentary membership that year. Academic economics was a substantial first profession, but the intervening years of government service are essential to understanding his route into ministerial politics.
