Jeff Probst

Probst earns a place for clarity rather than gentleness. Survivor's challenges need an authoritative explanation, while tribal council needs questions that turn private manoeuvring into a conversation the audience can follow. His forceful presence will not suit everyone, but his interviews about hosting show a deliberate interest in drawing out why players act as they do. Choose a tribal council with a complex strategic disagreement to assess that skill, keeping the merits of his questioning separate from approval of the format's pressures.
