Terry Wogan

Wogan began at RTÉ in radio before presenting television programmes such as Jackpot, and his later BBC career made the connection between the two media especially clear. Blankety Blank is a revealing companion to his breakfast broadcasts: the relaxed voice becomes a raised eyebrow, a pause and an amused response to the panel. Choose an early edition for the sense of a host quietly sharing the joke with the audience. The quiz supplies the structure; his unforced company supplies much of the pleasure.
