The Celebration (1998)
Movie
Released
A patriarch's birthday banquet is organised to honour a shared family story, until one guest insists on another version. The handheld images make the room's attempts to resume normal service intensely uncomfortable. The revelations concern child sexual abuse, and the film's power comes from the group's response rather than a surprise kept for the end.
